From the Page to the Stage – Poetry Performance Workshop
Learn how to take your poetry from the page to the stage in this inspiring performance workshop for 15–25 year olds, led by Broadway actress, comedian and writer Charlie Sanderson and the Speak Easy Collective. Whether you’re a rhyme rookie or a verse veteran, Speak Easy is the place to simply be! Gain confidence, craft your voice, and perform with power.
Join Charlie Sanderson and East Midlands-based spoken word collective Speak Easy in this one-of-a-kind performance workshop where you’ll learn how to write and perform your words to an audience with authenticity and style. In this relaxed workshop, we’ll guide you through the basics of performing your poetry live, showing you how to get an audience to sit up and truly connect with your message.

Charlie is a Broadway actress, comedian and writer published in the UK and USA. She has performed spoken word across the Midlands around themes of motherhood, womanhood, neurodiversity and migration.
Speak Easy is a spoken word collective amplifying the voices of Nottingham’s emerging poets. Founded by local creatives Abigail Hutchison, Charlie-Dawn Sadler and Joe Hoodmooring, and run in partnership with Writing East Midlands and Nottingham City of Literature, the collective is all about helping new talent find their voice, sharpen their craft, and step confidently into the spotlight.
With a focus on community, creativity, and career development, Speak Easy offers a platform for poets to make their mark. Whether you’re a rhyme rookie or a verse veteran, Speak Easy is the place to simply be!
