Join our Young Ambassadors Team

For lovers of books, reading, stories and Newark!

Newark Book Festival launched its very first Young Ambassadors programme in 2023 for those between 7-21 years and we have loved sharing every minute of festival life with you all!

Our YA's are part of our family! We want our Young Ambassadors to help us get the word out about how brilliant Newark Book Festival, books and reading is. You’ll be helping us promote the festival via social media and in person, and they’ll be opportunities to join in.

You’ll get the chance to shout about your favourite books, volunteer with the festival, and be part of our wonderful community of readers, writers and book-lovers! You’ll also get a fantastic welcome pack – and being a Young Ambassador looks great on your CV too.

Our Young Ambassadors have the chance to:

Receive a welcome pack - from t-shirts, books to bags and your certificate
Have the opportunity to volunteer at the Festival
Opportunity for some of our most enthusiastic Young Ambassadors to help create a Town Trail!
Take part in a YA storytelling workshop on either the 28th May or the 6th June and have a go at the Festival if you wish!
Help to create a painted wall celebrating 10 years of the festival with Imageskool
5 YA's can choose to be part of our interviewing panel - It's the YA's time to interview the interviewers!
Be part of a design team as we take over the Theatre and National Civil War Centre for 4 days
Help design event posters
AND NEW for 2026!!!! Introducing Young Ambassadors in Training! Yes, it's time - if you are under 7 and want to join in you can apply too!

What do you need to do?

We need you to tell at least ten people about the festival in your role as an ambassador – once you have done this send us photos and /or let us know who you have chatted to. As it’s lovely to learn about what you are up to. If you are happy for us to pop the photos on our social media let us know!
Tell your school or community groups and help is spread the word
Either attend a welcome event to meet other YA's and collect your welcome packs or pick it up when you visit the Festival
Join us at our welcome event, where you'll meet the team and other Young Ambassadors working at the festival.
Visit and take part in the festival
Don't forget to ask your parent or guardian if under 18 to take your photo and send it to us via hello@newarkbookfestival.org.uk We will then add them to our social media channels.
