Newark Book Festival’s Book Club

We’ll be reading One Thousand Stars and You by Isabelle Broom, and everyone is welcome – whether you’re a seasoned book club regular or someone who’s always wanted to try one but felt a little unsure. Come along on your own or with friends and enjoy a relaxed, friendly couple of hours of good conversation and a chance to connect with others who love books.

About the Authors

Aimee Horton is a writer and reader from Lincoln. She runs multiple book clubs across the city sharing her love of chatting about all kinds of books with readers. She's written three novels and is currently working on her fourth. At this year’s Newark Book Festival, Aimee will host a special book-club session, where readers can share honest opinions in a friendly, informal discussion.
Isabelle Broom is the award-winning author of 13 novels, published in 15 territories worldwide. She began her writing career after winning The Great British Write Off with her short story, The Wedding Speech, which was later adapted into a prize-winning short film. A former Book Reviews Editor at heat magazine and Woman & Home, Isabelle now works part-time as a journalist, editor and mentor. She lives in Suffolk, surrounded by books, family and an unruly dog. Isabelle writes emotionally rich stories about people, family, and love in all its forms. Her latest novel, The House Of Hidden Letters, is a sweeping dual-timeline drama set between modern day and 1940s Greece, where a one-euro property lottery draws its winner into a past filled with long-buried secrets.

Author Book Signing

The brand-new Waterstones Newark is the official Festival Bookseller, for 2026. Waterstones will be running the Festival Bookshop at the Palace Theatre and pop-up book stalls for author book signings after every event at each venue.
