About the Author

Jules Acton is a nature writer whose surname fittingly means “oak place.” A former journalist, she has worked with organisations including the Woodland Trust, the Wildlife Trusts, and WaterAid, combining her love of words and the natural world. Jules lives near Sherwood Forest with her husband, Toby, and rescue dog, Pepe.

The brand-new Waterstones Newark is the official Festival Bookseller, for 2026. Waterstones will be running the Festival Bookshop at the Palace Theatre and pop-up book stalls for author book signings after every event at each venue.
