About the Author

Lee Stuart Evans is a comedy writer who has penned jokes and scripts for many of Britain’s best-loved entertainers, including Sean Lock, Harry Hill, Dawn French, and Jimmy Carr. A full-time writer since 2002, his credits span 8 Out of 10 Cats, Live at the Apollo, I’m a Celebrity… and The Jonathan Ross Show. Raised on a Nottinghamshire council estate, Lee began his career in TV aged 24, working his way up from making tea to writing BAFTA-nominated comedy. His debut novel, Words Best Sung, was Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature’s Summer Read in 2018. He has a wife, two teenage sons and a cat, but is married to only one of them.

The brand-new Waterstones Newark is the official Festival Bookseller, for 2026. Waterstones will be running the Festival Bookshop at the Palace Theatre and pop-up book stalls for author book signings after every event at each venue.
